The Tattersalls auction house based in Newmarket, England, will restructure its juvenile sales in 2011.
The company will replace its late-spring Tattersalls Guineas breeze-up sale with a new auction at Tattersalls Ireland, across the road from Fairyhouse Racecourse outside Dublin. The new sale’s catalog will number about 100, and the auction is set for April 28.
Horses will breeze that morning at Fairyhouse, and the auction will take place that afternoon.
Tattersalls also will expand its Craven breeze-up sale to approximately 250 juveniles in training. In 2009 and 2010, the Craven 2-year-old sale cataloged 183 and 166 horses, respectively. The Craven auction traditionally coincides with Newmarket’s Craven meeting, provisionally slotted for April 13-14 next year.
This year, juveniles selling at the Craven auction averaged about $128,126, and Guineas juveniles averaged about $41,605.
