Hip No. 429, Keertana, 7-year-old mare, by Johar – Motokiks, by Storm Cat, consigned by Four Star Sales, agent for Brownwood Farm.
“She’s been just a model of consistency. She was only out of the money four times in her 29 starts, and in the Breeders’ Cup [Filly and Mare Turf] she was third behind Shared Account and Midday. She ran a fantastic race that day. Keertana is a big, good-looking filly with a lot of scope.”
Tony Lacy of Four Star Sales on the five-time Grade 3 winner out of the Storm Cat mare Motokiks, dam of five winners from seven to race, including multiple Grade 3 winner Snow Top Mountain, who sells later in the session. She was in foal to Arch, but lost the foal in December.
Hip No. 553, Salty Strike, 5-year-old mare, by Smart Strike – Lake Huron, by Salt Lake, consigned by Lane’s End, agent.
"She's been a hard-knocking race filly. She's coming off another stakes win at Churchill Downs. And on top of that, she's a really well-made, very well-balanced filly. She's been looked at quite a bit by people—not only to race this year, but as a broodmare prospect."
Allaire Ryan of Lane’s End on the multiple Grade 3 winner of over $485,000, who sells as a racing or broodmare prospect. She is out of the winning Salt Lake mare, who has produced six winners from eight to race, including stakes winner Salty Response.
Hip No. 584, Snow Top Mountain, 6-year-old mare, by Najran – Motokiks, by Storm Cat. Consigned by Four Star Sales, agent for Brownwood Farm.
“She’s just a very tough race filly. She’s been consistent and solid all through her racing career, [and is] in foal to Blame in one cover. She’s definitely an exciting mare for someone looking for a good, solid, very racy mare.”
Tony Lacy of Four Star Sales describes the multiple Grade 3 winner and half-sister to Keertana, who sells in foal to Blame.
Hip No. 605, Supreme, 6-year-old mare, by Empire Maker – Mon Belle, by Maria’s Mon, consigned by Lane’s End, agent for the dispersal of Fares Farm.
"Supreme is by Empire Maker, which, it seems like you just strike gold wherever you see those fillies. She's been quite popular. It's one of those dispersals where there is a little something for everyone."
Allaire Ryan of Lane’s End on the Grade 3-placed stakes winner, who will sell in foal to Giant’s Causeway. She is from the family of Kentucky Derby winner and sire Monarchos.
Hip No. 634, Venetian Sonata, 4-year-old filly, by Bernardini – Moonlight Sonata, by Carson City, consigned by Mill Ridge Sales, agent.
“The family has been very, very active. Everything in it has run and performed, and this filly herself could run, so we’re very, very hopeful with her.”
Headley Bell of Mill Ridge Sales describes the filly out of popular commercial mare Moonlight Sonata, dam of Grade 2 winners Wilburn (a full brother) and Beethoven, as well as A.P. Sonata, a three-quarter sister to Venetian Sonata who sold for $1.1-million at the 2012 Keeneland September yearling sale.
Hip No. 645, With Every Thought, 9-year-old mare, by Grand Slam – With Every Wish, by Lear Fan, consigned by Indian Creek, agent.
“She’s a very nice mare from one of the ‘it’ families right now, with Shackleford and Lady Joanne. We’ll see what Summer Birds do, but she has had a winner by Birdstone, so that’s a start, and she has others coming behind her.”
Shack Parrish of Indian Creek on the half-sister to Broodmare of the Year Oatsee, who has produced three other stakes winners besides classic winner Shackleford and Grade 1 winner Lady Joanne. With Every Wish sells in foal to Summer Bird.
Hip No. 735, Deputy Saint, 6-year-old mare, by Saint Liam – Sherriff’s Deputy, by Deputy Minister, consigned by Lane’s End, agent for the dispersal of Fares Farm.
"She's a really pretty mare. Saint Liam was a big loss to us. She's been quite popular as well. She's a really pretty mare, so that should [help her do w ell]. Havre de Grace, you know, she kind of resonates, selling for $10-million in November [at the Fasig-Tipton selected mixed sale]. So, she's a little bit of a commodity, there."
Allaire Ryan of Lane’s End on the half-sister to two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, who sells in foal to Lemon Drop Kid. Her yearling foal, a Speightstown filly, will sell immediately afterward.
