Multiple Group 1 winner Dar Re Mi has been added to unbeaten champion Frankel's outstanding first book of mares.
The 8-year-old Singspiel mare, bred and owned by Andrew Lloyd-Webber's Watership Down Stud, is due to deliver a Dubawi foal in March. Her first foal was an Oasis Dream colt in 2012.
"We think [Frankel] really will suit her well and inject plenty of speed," Watership Down manager Simon Marsh said. "She's by Singspiel, so both Sadler's Wells and Danehill are far enough away in the pedigree. We're very excited."
Two-time reigning European Horse of the Year Frankel, who raced as a homebred for Juddmonte Farms, retired unbeaten in 14 starts, including 10 Group 1 victories. The 5-year-old Galileo horse stands his initial season at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud in England for a fee of approximately $198,000.
Frankel's first book also includes classic producer Oatsee, Kentucky's reigning broodmare of the year; 2011 Prix de l' Arc de Triomphe winner Danedream; Eclipse Award winners Zagora and Stacelita; Japanese champion Vodka; multiple Grade/Group 1 winner Midday; and Grade 1 winner Balance, a half-sister to champion Zenyatta.
Dar Re Mi won six of 17 career starts while competing in five countries, earning $4,359,112. She scored Group 1 victories in the Yorkshire Oaks in England, the Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland, and the Dubai Sheema Classic in the United Arab Emirates. Also a Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed in France, she finished third in the 2009 Breeders' Cup Turf.
Out of the Group 1-winning Top Ville mare Darara, Dar Re Mi is a half-sister to Group 1 winners Diaghilev, Rewilding, and Darazari and to stakes winner and Group 1-placed Dariyoun.
It is the family of champion and leading sire Darshaan, Group 1 winner and sire Daliapour, and Group 1 winner Hunter's Light.
