Dash It Dreamer consistently sharp

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Dash It Dreamer’s recent form is hard to fault if you ignore her subpar showing on the dirt at Fort Erie, and she should be prominent in Thursday’s Woodbine headliner, a second-level allowance sprint with a $62,500-claiming option.

Dash It Dreamer, a 4-year-old trained by Reade Baker, completed her 3-year-old campaign with three consecutive allowance scores, two of which were in Ontario-sired company.

Following a long layoff May 22, Dash It Dreamer wound up second after setting the pace in the six-furlong Ballade Stakes. Impossible Time, the Ballade winner, has evolved into the leading Ontario-sired female on the grounds.

Dash It Dreamer went to Fort Erie June 6 for the five-furlong Rainbow Connection Stakes, in which she finished a well-beaten sixth in a race that was originally scheduled for the grass.

Dash It Dreamer rebounded most recently under Emma Wilson in a six-furlong event at this level, in which she dueled on the pace with Sharp Secretary, en route to running second to that rival. Sharp Secretary subsequently defeated a quality field of 3-year-old fillies in the Duchess Stakes.

Trainer Sid Attard entered two 3-year-olds in the 6 1/2-furlong feature, D’wild Beach and Red Release.

D’wild Beach, a half-sister to Grade 1 Ashland winner Hooh Why, won both of her races on the front end under David Clark. She has worked extensively since notching a first-level allowance while receiving a Beyer Speed Figure of just 72 July 3.

Red Release graduated third time out this spring, and nearly found the mark in her first allowance attempt June 19. She captured a five-furlong allowance with a 74 Beyer earlier this month under Patrick Husbands, who retains the mount.

Trainer Steve Asmussen entered School Girl and Bear’s Lightning. Like the Attard duo, they are not coupled.

School Girl ran second in the Holiday Inaugural Stakes over Turfway’s Polytrack last November. She has started twice here on the Polytrack since being claimed for $32,000 at Keeneland in April.

School Girl won her local debut May 15, and also competed with a $60,000 claiming price when she finished fourth behind Sharp Secretary and Dash It Dreamer July 17. Fashion Jenny and Bedarra also exited that key race to score.

Bear’s Lightning was claimed off Baker from a runner-up placing in a $40,000 conditioned claimer July 23.

Completing the field is Amazon Belle, who has run hot and cold this year for trainer Bob Tiller.
