A partnership including Ro Parra’s Millennium Farms and breeder and owner Bill Heiligbrodt has purchased second-crop sire Closing Argument from the group that stood him this year at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm in Lexington.
The buying group has not yet announced its plans for the 8-year-old Successful Appeal horse, who finished second behind Giacomo in the 2005 Kentucky Derby. Closing Argument currently is a top 10 second-crop sire. His leading earner is Canadian stakes-winner Midst with $148,645. He also is the sire of American stake-winner Foreign Argument, Heiligbrodt’s homebred Grade 3-placed runner Crider, and stakes performers Miss Aristocrat and Vital Argument.
Closing Argument has more than $2.4 million in progeny earnings to date. He also is the sire of promising allowance winner Capital Account, who won his first two starts by a combined 10 1/2 lengths.
Closing Argument began his stud career in Florida before moving to Hill ‘n’ Dale for the 2008 breeding season. He stood at Hill ‘n’ Dale for an advertised fee of $5,000 in 2010.
Heiligbrodt was part of a partnership group that stood Closing Argument at Sequel Stallions in Florida early in the horse’s stud career. Parra owns a farm in Lexington and also stands stallions at Moon Lake Farm in Elm Grove, La.
