Queen's Plate nominee Captain Canuck ($8.40) broke his maiden in the second, after vying up front through soft fractions. The nervous Pulpit gelding covered nine furlongs on the Poly in 1:53.48 under David Clark. Favored Smart Sky rallied to finish a close third.
