Jockey Mike Smith will not ride on Sunday, citing soreness from a spill on Friday. Smith was unseated when Operetta Italiano took an awkward step on the first turn of a turf race. The filly did not appear to be injured.
Smith did not ride on Saturday but said on Sunday that he hopes to return to riding at Hollywood Park on Wednesday.
Smith had mounts in three races at Santa Anita on Sunday. He has been replaced by Joe Talamo on Silk Street in the sixth race, by David Flores on Squallcreek in the eighth race, and by Christian Santiago Reyes on Princess Taylor in the 10th race, the San Juan Capistrano.
