Jockey Mike Smith appeared to avoid injury in Friday's fourth race when he was unseated from 8-1 shot Operetta Italiano in the frist turn of a $32,000 claimer.
Smith had Operetta Italiano in fifth place in a field of seven when the 4-year-old filly appeared to take an awkward step. Operetta Italiano stumbled and Smith fell from the left side of the filly. Within seconds, he was on his feet and talking with ambulance personnel. Operetta Italiano did not appear to be injured and was walked off the track.
The race was won by Dash Dot Dash ($7.60) who rallied on the rail on the turn and held off a late run from 4-5 favorite Warren's Appeal to win by a half-length, finishing a mile in 1:35.28.
