Daily Racing Form had it's annual Black Eyed Susan-Preakness seminar here at Pimlico Friday morning. For the record, the picks went this way: In the Black Eyed Susan, Dave Grening picked Seeking the Title, while Andy Beyer, Jay Privman, and yours truly all landed on Harissa. That poor filly has no idea what hit her.
In the Preakness, Privman picked Caracortado, Beyer and I went with Lookin At Lucky, and Grening picked Paddy O'Prado. Grening's pick obviously did not sit well with Beyer, who promptly announced that he would book Dave's action on Paddy O'Prado. And then, really rolling now, Andy said he would book Jay's action on Caracortado, too.
All I could think of is the last time I heard Beyer talk this way, it was at one of these very same Black Eyed Susan Day seminars a few years back, when he said he would book the world's action on Invasor in the co-featured Pimlico Special. Invasor, of course, won the Pimlico Special on his way to Horse of the Year honors.
