So far, so good for the bean counters at Monmouth Park, if the early Daily Double handle is any indication. Bettors poured $100,224 into the first mult-race exotic pool of the season, compared with $59,789 on the early double on Opening Day 2009.
The mutuel pool for the 2nd races, including win, place, show, exacta, trifecta and superfecta, was $567,637. Last year's corresponding handle was $374,142, an increase of 67%.
