If you're like me and you're just getting started on Saturday's Belmont races, it's time to put up some coffee and put some time into one of the most interesting cards of the year. This one's got something for everyone, with main attractions and sideshows galore: Rags to Riches making her first start since the Belmont Stakes in the G1 Gazelle, and free Rags to Riches buttons for the first 12,000 patrons to arrive; a pair of Grade 2 juvenile stakes in the Futurity and Matron; a contentious Grade 3 Noble Damsel; the belated debut of the $16 million The Green Monkey; and if that's not enough, a $47k pick-six carry from Friday's racing.
We'll eventually get caught up on the first half of Week Two here at Belmont Fall, but Saturday's card is just too juicy to put off any longer. I'll be back much later on, or early tomorrow, with some thoughts.
