The $60,000 Louisiana Cup Sprint will usher in the stakes portion of the Louisiana Cup program. It will be followed by five more divisional stakes, with all of the races restricted to horses bred in Louisiana.
Flashy Wise Cat opened up as the favorite for the Sprint. He will be cutting back to one turn after a two-turn experiment and the last time he ran around one turn he took the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Sprint at Fair Grounds. David Bourque has the mount for trainer Troy Young.
The current second choice is Foreign Production, who like Flashy Wise Cat made a favorable phyical impression in the post parade. He has a strong hindquarter, and is looking for his second straight win following an allowance sprint score at Fair Grounds in March.
