The first two finishers in the fifth race, a maiden special weight for 3- and 4-year-old fillies over six and a half furlongs, would seem to have a bright future based on pedigree. Golden Striker ($4.20), a half-sister to four-time stakes winner Golden Yank, won the race over first-time starter Viva Victory, who is out of the millionaire-winning mare Vivace.
Golden Striker is trained by Gary Thomas, who also trains Golden Yank. Viva Victory is trained by Allen Milligan.
