Salty Wave ($2.60) won the best race on the card, the fifth, in hand, when she took quick command out of the gate in the $35,000 optional claimer moved to a sloppy main track. She defeated males in the five-furlong race, and covered the distance in 57.31 seconds. Salty Wave had two other rivals after several scratches, the most notable scratch being multiple stakes winner Greeley's Conquest. Chris Landeros was aboard for trainer Karl Broberg.
Salty Wave won her fourth straight race Friday night. One start prior, she set a Lone Star course-record for five-furlongs on turf when she won an optional claimer against filles and mares in 55.09 seconds June 5. Salty Wave, a former stakes winner, is a 5-year-old mare by Salty Sea.
