The upcoming fourth race is the first of six consecutive maiden races on the card at Lone Star. It is for 2-year-old fillies and the No. 8, Private Native, opened up as the 3-2 favorite. She is a daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus and for her debut she gets the services of leading rider Chris Landeros.
Cactus Kate, Quite Sharp and Kipahulu are all by stallions who are hitting at an above average rate in the category of juvenile debut winners.
Quite Sharp is from the first crop of Sharp Humor, who had an impressive juvenile winner here Friday night in Brickyard Fast. He won a maiden special weight by 10 lengths for trainer Joe Petalino, who also trains Quite Sharp.
Kipahulu is also by a young stallion, and from a limited sample that stallion is getting 17 percent juvenile debut winners.
Seventh Prayer shook loose from her pony in the post parade, but did not go far before being picked up by an outrider and proceeding to warm up.
