Special Skippy did not get the break when making her career debut in the second race, but quickly moved up into contention to join the leaders midway on the turn while advancing along the rail. She then went on to a clear win in the six-furlong maiden special weight for fillies and mares. Special Skippy is a 3-year-old daughter of Skip Away and out of the Nureyev mare Main Edition. She is trained by Isai Gonzalez.
