The first stakes of the Stars of Texas Day program is on deck, with the Steve Asmussen-trained entry of Intimidating Woman and Far too Primal the current 3-5 favorite in the $100,000 fillies division of the Texas Stallion Stakes for 2-year-old fillies. Intimidating Woman was a close third in a Churchill Downs allowance in her most recent start, while Far too Primal owns one of the field's best last-race Beyer Figures.
The value here, though, appears to be Fastation, who is 5-1. She was second last out to the undefeated Lady Giacamo in the fillies division of the Texas Thoroughbred Association Sales Futurity, giving her the best stakes credentials in the field. In addition, Fastation was second to Lady Giacamo in a maiden allowance earlier in the meet at Lone Star. As for Lady Giacamo, she is headed for graded stakes competition, at either Del Mar or Saratoga.
Richard Eramia, the leading rider at Louisiana Downs, is in town this afternoon and has the mount on Fastation for Asmussen.
