Tom Durant will set a new record for owner wins in a Lone Star meet if Pure Red Head takes the upcoming eighth race, a second-level allowance at seven and a half furlongs on turf. She is the current 5-2 favorite over a field that includes La Poli and Shine Softly. Pure Red Head would be the 31st winner at the meet for Durant.
La Poli has finished first in her last five races, with one of those scores coming in a stater allowance that was declared a no-contest when an entrant broke from the gate wearing a blanket. She goes for Danny Pish, who had a nice-looking maiden special weight winner on the card earlier tonight in Barby Sue. Barby Sue is a half-sister to Barbette, a multiple stakes winner on the grass, and Grade 2 winner Diamond On the Run.
Others facing Pure Red Head in the upcoming eighth race include Shine Softly, whose dam, Soaring Softly, won the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. She is the current second choice at 7-2.
Pure Red Head will be making her turf debut off back to back wins at Lone Star.
