Jockey Cliff Berry appeared to escape serious injury in the fifth race, when his mount, Letmescat, attemped to jump the temporary rail out of the gate as a rival came over on her sharply at the start of the six-furlong maiden claimer. Berry was thrown, but got right back up and after being returned to the grandstand he walked back to the jockeys' quarters. An outrider picked up Letmescat after she crossed the wire in the race, and she, too, appeared to escape serious injury.
