King of Speed is seeking to improve his record over the Lone Star turf course to 5-for-5 in the upcoming sixth race. He went 3-for-3 over the local lawn last meet, then picked right up where he left off in his most recent start, when he won a $15,000 starter allowance here April 10. It was the second win on the year for the gelding, who had taken a $15,000 claimer on the dirt at Fair Grounds on March 1.
King of Speed, a son of Senor Speedy, has won 26 of 105 starts overall in his career in a testament to his class. It's also a record that suggests donuts are good for you as that is King of Speed's favorite treat. He is the current 4-5 favorite for Carl Moore and trainer Bret Calhoun.
