Major Smoke was claimed for $12,500 in a three-way shake by Leandro Mora from Monday's sixth race, which the 5-year-old gelding won by 4 1-4 lengths. Major Smoke ($4.60) ran seven furlongs in 1:23.83.
Mora is an assistant trainer to Doug O'Neill, who is currently suspended for a total carbon dioxide overage in Illinois in April. Through Sunday, O'Neill was the leading trainer at this meeting, with 27 wins, five more than Mike Mitchell, even though O'Neill has not had a starter since June 30, and said late last month that his stable will not have any runners in Mora's name. The suspension ends on July 14.
