Moonstruck Maya won her first start against three rivals in Wednesday's second race, but she looked like a filly with considerably more experience.
Ridden by Joel Rosario, Moonstruck Maya stalked the pace for the first three furlongs, and circled four-wide before reaching contention in the stretch. She fought with Hollywood Affair through the final furlong to win by anose, finishing five furlongs in 58.89 seconds.
Owned by West Point Thoroughbreds and trained by Carla Gaines, Moonstruck Maya paid $3.60. The race was reduced to four runners, following the early morning scratch of Advantage Player.
