Twirling Candy stayed perfect after two starts with an eye-catching win in Saturday's eighth race, his first start since November.
Ridden by Rajiv Maragh, Twirling Candy ($4.20) ran 6 1-2 furlongs in 1:15.08, stalking pacesetter Pinal through an early pace of 21.70 and 43.98 seconds before taking the lead with a three-wide move in early stretch. He drew off to win by 7 3-4 lengths.
Trained by John Sadler for Jenny Craig, Twirling Candy won his debut in a seven-furlong maiden race last November, but had not started since. The style of Saturday's win suggests strongly that Twirling Candy can be effective in longer races.
