The four-time stakes winner The Usual Q.T. won his first start since a trip to Dubai in March in an allowance race over a mile on turf in Sunday's fifth race.
Ridden by Victor Espinoza, The Usual Q.T. stalked the pace to the turn before challenging the leaders and taking the lead in early stretch. He drew clear to win by a half-length, while holding off Dakota Phone in the final sixteenth. The Usual Q.T. ($3.20) was timed in 1:34.47.
The Usual Q.T. ended a two-race losing streak in the allowance race. He was fourth in the $5 million Dubai Duty Free Stakes in Dubai on March 27. Trainer Jim Cassidy said the allowance race win was a prep for the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar on July 24.
