Lucky Primo won Saturday's sixth race in a very unconventional style.
Ridden by Joel Rosario, Lucky Primo led for the first half-mile of the one-mile turf race before Rosario grabbed a hold of Lucky Primo at the end of the backstretch, allowing Exploration and Rummysecret War to lead around the turn. In the stretch, Lucky Primo rallied wide to retake the lead and hold off a threat from Shediak to win by a half-length.
Lucky Primo was timed in 1:34.90, his first win since the 2008 California Cup Juvenile. Trained by Marty Jones, Lucky Primo missed all of 2009 and made his fourth start of 2010 on Saturday.
