Taro, making her first start since last June, was a troubled third in Saturday's Warren's Thoroughbred Stakes for state-bred females.
Taro was racing along the rail on the backstretch, just behind the leaders and in a bit of tight quarters nearing the turn. Jockey Mike Smith guided Taro to the outside entering the stretch and she closed well through the final furlong to finish third, 1 3-4 lengths behind Excellent News ($6.60), who was sent off favored.
Considering the way Taro closed ground in the final furlong, Taro, who is trained by Clifford Sise, should benefit from the race.
