Hard Bill, making his first start in 51 weeks, rallied from off the pace to win an optional claimer over 6 1-2 furlongs in Sunday's sixth race.
Hard Bill ($25.40) outfinished Yankee Station by a head, finishing in a quick 1:15.12. Guns on the Table, who inherited the lead in early stretch from the fading pacesetter Truest Legend, was beaten a neck by Yankee Station.
Truest Legend, making his first start since a last-place finish in the Grade 2 Carry Back Stakes at Calder last July, set an early pace of 22.04 and 44.66 seconds, but faded to finish seventh in the field of 10. There were only nine finishers. Italian Rules, making his first start since August, was pulled up in early stretch.
Hard Bill races for a partnership that incudes LIttle Red Feather Racing. The syndicate had two wins on Sunday, including the second race with the maiden Saint Isabelle.
