Go Forth North makes her second start in the United States in Friday evening's third race, and has every chance to improve from a fourth-place finish at Santa Anita last month.
Trained by Paddy Gallagher, Go Forth North is part of a field of eight in a maiden race over 1 1-16 miles on turf. Winless in three starts in England last year, Go Forth North was beaten 3 1-4 lengths after a slow start. Chantal Sutherland rode Go Forth North that day, but she now rides at Woodbine. Joel Rosario has the mount on Friday.
One promising aspect of Go Forth North's American debut was the way the filly closed ground from last. With a better start, she could be a factor in a race that lacks a standout.
Gallagher has two in the race. Megaspiel was 13th of 14 in a maiden race on Polytrack at Dundalk, Ireland, last October. The trainer does not excel with horses making their U.S. debut, but has a better record with horses making their second starts in this country.
Attar of Rose was second in a maiden race at The Meadowlands last November and makes her first start for trainer Kristin Mulhall. Irish Torrent has been second in six of her 13 races, but all those losses will discourage some bettors.
