The first-time starter Comma to the Top finished a game second in Thursday's eighth race and was unlucky not to win the maiden claimer over 4 1-2 furlongs.
Ridden by Tyler Baze, Comma to the Top, a 7-1 shot, was steadied on the turn and was forced to wait briefly just as the field approached the stretch. Despite all that, he rallied between horses to finish a head behind The Great Caper, who was favored and returned $5.40.
Comma to the Top is trained by Peter Miller, who often focuses his 2-year-olds on early season races.
The Great Caper was the second winning favorite in Thursday's pick six races, which returned $16,301.
