Trainer Julio Canani claimed Brenthurst, the winner of Sunday's fourth race, for $25,000.
Brenthurst ($5.20) closed from off the pace to win the six-furlong turf race by a half-length over even-money favorite Hasty Trend. Brenthurst, a 4-year-old gelding, was claimed by previous trainer Jim Kasparoff for $40,000 on May 7 and made two starts for his stable. The gelding has won 2 of 11 starts.
Brenthurst won the first leg of a pick six that drew a pool of $246,739. The second leg, the fifth race, was won by Mensa Heat, who outfinished Scofield Barracks by a half-length in an allowance race over 6 1-2 furlongs. Scofield Barracks was a nose in front of J P Jammer, who was a nose in fourth-place finisher The Bat Signal.
Mensa Heat ($14.80), who rallied wide from just off the pace, has won 2 of his last starts, including a $25,000 claimer for non-winners of two at Santa Anita in March.
