Brookie Girl extended her winning streak to three races in Wednesday's fifth race at Hollywood Park, winning a six-furlong turf race in her first start in an allowance race against winners.
Ridden by Tyler Baze, Brookie Girl rallied four-wide on the turn to win by 1 1-4 lengths over Surfer Girl. A Sassy Fusaichi faded through the stretch to finish sixth as the 2-1 favorite. Brookie Girl ($11) was timed in 1:09.38.
Brookie Girl has made just six starts for trainer Vladimir Cerin. After losing her first three races in 2008 and 2009, she was turned out for six months. Since her return in February, she is unbeaten in three starts, a maiden race for $32,000 claimers on Feb. 18, a starter allowance on March 14 and Wednesday's race. In each race, she has stalked the pace under Baze, and taken the lead in the stretch.
Baze won 2 of the first 5 races on Wednesday. He has three more mounts - Ishmael in the sixth, Hollywood Harbor in the seventh, and Surprisefor Toulla in the eighth.
