Jockey Brice Blanc guided Turning Top to a head win in Saturday's Redondo Beach Stakes, giving the filly her first stakes win and trainer Simon Callaghan his first stakes win in the United States.
Blanc was aboard Turning Top for the first time in the Redondo Beach, which was run over a mile on turf for fillies and mares. He gave the filly a confident ride. With a furlong remaining, Turning Top was 3 1-2 lengths behind leader Value Stream but closed very well to win by a head over Rosey de Megeve.
After the race, Callaghan said he expects the filly to do even better in longer races, such as over 1 1-4 miles on turf.
