Jockey Tyler Baze said before the Hollywood Park spring-summer meeting started on Wednesday that he anticipated having a strong season. He showed it with three consecutive wins on opening day.
Baze will be busy on Friday evening's program, riding all eight races.
His mount in the fifth race, Summer Movie, is a promising 3-year-old. Trained by Art Sherman, Summer Movie won a maiden race on turf last fall at Santa Anita, and was considered for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf. The colt was unable to gain a place in that race, and started in the Grade 3 Generous Stakes in November instead.
Summer Movie finished last and emerged with a sore ankle, Sherman said. No surgery was required, but Summer Movie did not start at Santa Anita. Friday's fifth race is the comeback, and Sherman is optimstic that Summer Movie can develop into a stakes winner later this year.
Of Baze's other rides, he has two mounts for trainer Doug O'Neill - Slew City Grinder in the first and L'Enchanteresse in the third. They teamed to win twice on Wednesday.
