A.C. Avila, whose stable has already won five races in the first seven days of the spring-summer meeting, claimed Pinstripe Kid for $25,000 from Saturday's seventh race.
Pinstripe Kid closed on the rail to split the field in the turf race over 1 1-16 miles on turf. Fire Break ($18.60) pulled an upset, winning by a head over Yvett's Pride, who was a half-length in front of Uffizi, the 2-1 favorite.
Pinstripe Kid has won 3 of 19 starts, and is winless in his last five starts since a $25,000 claimer on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 1.
