3:45 pm: Last night was the Round Table dinner and this morning was the Round Table speech (see next post). In other words, I haven't made a bet yet today and I'm scrambling just to work up a little late pick-4 play for action.
I'm going to try Them There Eyes in the featured Yaddo if she's even half her 12-1 morning line. She's making her third start off a layoff; does her best running when there's some give in the ground, as there will be today; and has back races (like last year's Mt. Vernon) that are plenty good enough to win this.
Back in a while once I'm tied on.
5:45 pm: Them There Eyes dead last at 10-1. Yeesh. Didn't play the pick-4, and it's not looking good for a carryover into the last day of Week 4: Only the four longest shots in the finale (#'s 3,5,9,11) are uncovered in the pick-6.
In case you missed it, here's yesterday's 9th race with the six-way photo-finish:
6:05 pm: Make that three uncovered horses: #5, Being Queen, scratched with one minute to post.
6:15 pm: Glad I wasn't involved in the finale. I understand you're supposed to use every single horse that Linda Rice puts on the track up here, but this one was a stretch:
Stepping up from maiden-claiming to maiden-special off an eight month layoff, Shot Gun Gal wired the field -- at 3-1.
