Slow pace, outside winner in race 1, though that winner, Stay Put, looked very hard to beat. Fast pace, front-end inside winner in race 2, with comebacking, blinkers on, turf-route-to-one-turn-dirt-mile runner Zimmer coming up to take lead midway down backstretch and holding solid through stretch run. Final time here 1:36.36, pretty quick for maidens. Winner ridden by Calvin Borel, and Mr. Borel went to the stick out of the gate -- almost like he really thought the front-end was the place to be. That's food for thought.
