Speed? Not so much. Race 3, an off-the-turf maiden route, had a contested pace, but the speeds fell away around the far turn and into the stretch. Outside-drawn, late-running Sheryl's Melody clunked along for easy win, with another outside closer, Poplar Girl, second. Conclusion: No Derby Day bias after three races. Rain still holding off, too.
