A short field kicked off the opening day card at Churchill Saturday - something that appears likely to be all too common this meet - and Dublin Da'Bet ($5.40) proved the winner under Calvin Borel over a muddy strip.
WIth Borel hustling his mount from the start, he placed him right on the lead, smack down on the fence, and the outcome was never in doubt in the race for $12,500 claimers.
The horse fit on paper, obviously, as the favorite...but there is no denying that Borel rides the Churchill Downs main track as good as anyone, particularly when it is wet.
