Julien Leparoux will be out of action until at least May 29 with a compression fracture in his back, while Calvin Borel will be off Thursday, and possibly Friday, with an eye infection.
Leparoux was injured in a spill aboard Diva Delite in the May 14 Black Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico. Although he rode the following day at Pimlico, including the Preakness, and on Sunday at Churchill Downs, Leparoux was ordered early this week by his physician not to ride "for another week and a half, maybe two weeks," according to agent Steve Bass. "They'll be taking another look at it and decide when he can come back."
Borel, the three-time Ky. Derby-winning rider who leads the spring standings at Churchill, rode Friday and Saturday at Pimlico, then Sunday at Churchill. He should be back in action no later than Saturday, according to CD publicity.
