Small fields and short prices have pretty much been the result of the rains which swept through here earlier today.
Spidawoman was pretty much handed the 7th race by default, an off the turfer that scratched down to just four starters. Was 8-5 when she left the gate but predictably got banged to 6-5 shortly after making the lead and once disposing of Wise Passion had no competition as her main rival D'Lucci Girl just never responded to heavy urging over the wet track.
Senor Pedro was bet to 2-1 off a couple of bad trips in the eighth and he too had little to worry about after putting away early challenger Blue Orgin. Sure Success the 8-5 favorite, was in tough position early outside and between rivals and weakly handled late although still good enough to finish second in the lower priced conditioned claimer. No excuse for Raised Wild.
Three more to go including the off the turf tenth which scratched down from 11 to seven starters but does feature the local return of former stakes winner Lordy Robyn who is now back in his old home with trainer David Fawkes.
