Speed and the rail dominated following heavy showers which struck midway through the card. In the Ride the Rails Stakes, Bernie The Maestro outsprinted well backed but idled Coffee Boy to the top then reassesrted himself along the inside to prevail after being headed through midstretch. The same scenario took place in the finale when Spirit's Wild Lite led throughout and dug in gamely after seemingly being at the mercy of 7-5 Square Deal turning for home. Elvis Trujillo the victim and runnerup in both instances.
