Waiting for track management to reassess the condition of the grass course after lower level open claimers reeled off a :22 and change opening quarter and 1:09 and change six furlong split over the less than soggy sod in the fourth race. The venerable 10-year-old Magic Mecke benefitted from the fast pace, circling the field and drawing off to his first victory in recent memory while posting a final time just a little more than a second faster than the course record. The win was the second on the card for trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. who also won the first with Sockeye Silver.
