Sincero found a soft spot, controled all the pace and got his first win of the year after eight tries when cruising to a popular victory in the ninth race. Didn't have much competition other than from longshot Quiet Emerati who ran his best race in a while. Looks like Hey Byrn is done. The once classy, Grade 3 winner had to take up briefly approaching the far turn but fell back badly thereafter and was practically eased to the wire. The fact he was racing under a $25,000 claiming tag probably the tip off there.
Afleet Lass, 6-1 on the line, has opened as the favorite in the finale despite making his first career start on grass. Chased odds on Pica Slew and held to midstretch in her only previous try.
