In what may be a racing first, two jockeys celebrated their first career victories within an hour of each other here today after apprentice Jorge Calderon won the opener aboard Tobin's Rules and Shamir Maragh the third race on Dubai's Connection. Tobin's Rules was an 11-1 outsider while Dubai's Connection was a 4-5 favorite winning his third race of the still young meet.
Those victories were sandwiched around a rail skimming victory by Atlantic Hurricane and jockey Jeffrey Sanchez in a one mile maiden race on the grass for 3-year-old fillies. The perfect trip trumping the poor journeys of favorites Taste(steadied sharply while moving midway on the second turn) and Lady Charlie(off poorly, wide throughout).
