Five down, four to go on another card dampened by late morning showers which forced all turf races to be moved to a sloppy main track.
A mix of speed and closers thus far with Alcanudance(2nd), Cuban Carmen(4th) and Out of Wine(5th) all winning on the lead and both Brady's Lady(1st) and Winaway(4th) taking their races from off the pace.
Brady's Lady gave trainer Eric Posada just his 4th win in 70 starts this year and came at the expense of runner-up Kip the Tiger whose trainer Ralph Ziadie just 1 for 74 on the season. An uncharacterist slump for a man who has won five local titles.
Apprentices Jose Angel Garcia and Sixto Ribera, between them a combined 13 for 290 coming into the card, rode the winners of the second and third races while fellow bug rider Luis Saez widened his lead atop the standings over defending champ Manny Cruz with his victory astride Out Of Wine.
The sixth race another head scratcher especially with First Mandate, who is 20-1 on the morning line, holding as the 2-1 favorite on the tote board. First Mandate had been winless in his first 24 career starts before shipping to Suffolk Downs to finally win his maiden in a very slow bottom level race. The Bill White trained Checkitoff figures to fianlly be the post time favorite when the field reaches the gate.
