Two races in the book, one on the main track and one on grass which are fast and firm respectively. A moderate tailwind again blows out of the east and at the horses backs down the backstretch.
Speed got buried here yesterday on the main but Lance's Song had little trouble winning from virtually on the front end in the opener, drawing off to a one sided maiden win after stalking and taking control after three furlongs. Both the 4-5 Smart Cole and second choice Grandazzle were horrible.
The second race went to Catatumbo who rallied from next to last to an easy win after circling the field turning for home. This was the second of six maiden races on the card.
Notes Prince opened at 1-9 for the third race but Precious Beans and first time starter He's Alright both figure to take some money as the betting progresses. He's Alright comes off his best work yet, showing speed early during a half mile gate drill last week.
As expected, Jet Propulsion and stablemate Stones River were both scratched by trainer Marty Wolfson from today's main event, the nine furlong Mecke on the turf.
