Wake Maker (2nd, $8.80), a City Zip colt who was off slow and 11 lengths behind at the first call of his debut last month, showed vastly improved speed to wire a one-mile maiden special for Barclay Tagg.
Wake Maker cut fractions of 45.31 and 1:09.37, and was a handy winner in 1:34.54 over a track playing about as fast as the Bonneville Salt Flats.
