Despite lugging in repeatedly while green as grass, Vose the Host (4th, $29.80) won his career debut after running down second-time starter Roderick in the final strides of a 5 1/2-furlong maiden dash for New York-breds.
The Bobby Barbara-trained Vose the Host was well back early as Gerard Loves Beer, Fiddler's Chaparito and Fight for V L T's battled for the lead, circled widest into the lane and was just up under Jose Lezcano.
