Benefiting from an outside draw and an enervating pace duel between Eightyfiveinafifty and Discreetly Mine, D'Funnybone (6th, $4.40) sat chilly through the first three-eighths of a mile, then pounced three wide into the lane and drew clear to take the $250,000 Woody Stephens under Edgar Prado.
D'Funnybone is now a five-time Grade 2 winner in seven starts since acquired by Paul Pompa Jr. and turned over to Rick Dutrow Jr.
Meanwhile, Trappe Shot's facile score earlier in the day looks all the better, because he ran seven-eighths in 1:22.18, a couple ticks faster than D'Funnybone's time of 1:22.64.
