Here it is, and here in full-page form too. Please consult the BC Day 1: Graded Handicap post for explanations of grades and their meaning. Enjoy, and good luck Saturday.
*Corinthian earned a preliminary Beyer Speed Figure of 119 for his 6 1/2-length romp in the BC Dirt Mile Friday, the year's second-highest BSF behind Midnight Lute's 124 in the Forego. Makes you wonder how he might have fared in the Classic, though it's worth remembering there's a world of difference between a mile and 70 yards and 10 furlongs. Maryfield got a 101 winning the F&M Sprint and Nownownow's BC Juvenile Turf received an 85. The day's second-highest winning BSF was Tessa Blue's 104 winning the Inside Information.
*Bettors clearly did not regard the Friday Monmouth card as a day-long festival, betting an anemic $5 million on the first half of the 10-race card, but then stepped it up to the tune of over $25 million on the last five, over $20 million of that on the three new BC races. Superfecta betting was up over 15 percent over recent BC days as a percentage of total handle, probably reflecting the availability of dime supers this year. The Friday pick six drew just $143,519 in handle, but the late pick-four attracted $887,037, and the all-BC late pick-three drew a pool of $1.02 million.
Midnight: Time to start figuring out those Capital OTB pick-six tickets.
